Life really can bee amazing
I have created a rich program infused with art that is focused on helping your child develop a growth mindset and discover their inner hero.
Based in Ventura, California, I work with little ones as young as 5 all the way up to preteens (12-year-olds).
Coaching Sessions
(where the ✨magic✨ happens)
Sessions are typically held once a week and are one hour long. They are split into two 30 minute blocks.
Stories
During the first 30 minutes, I read and discuss stories that are tailored to the needs of your child. Whether they’re dealing with bullying or struggling with anxiety and depression, or just need a little direction— I’m here to help with a story that is geared towards a solution.
Art
During the last thirty minutes, I facilitate an activity or art project that helps further develop the theme we are working on. It is a tangible way to experience the lesson and gives your child something they can be proud of to take home and reflect on. There is no expectation of the art—it is meant to be used as a healing tool of expression.
Continue the Work
But the work doesn’t stop there! I end each session with a take-home activity to enable your child to continue working on their newly developed skills throughout the week. I also periodically provide you with a breakdown of what we work on during our sessions and tools to continue the learning at home.
“The bee symbolizes community, brightness and personal power. It brings a message of teamwork and shows you that you can accomplish much with the resources you have at your disposal.”
Coaching kids is different from coaching adults.
As a child, the frontal lobe of the brain, where critical reasoning occurs, is not yet fully developed. As a result, coaching kids requires that I bring in a teaching component that a child’s brain can process like how to deal with situations that they might face—whether at school, with their friends, or even at home.
I primarily use the Adventures in Wisdom Life Coaching story-based curriculum. The program is a fun, story-based program that gives step-by-step tools for helping kids develop powerful mindset skills to handle the ups and downs of growing up; to think for themselves and make good decisions; and to go for their dreams and make them happen.
Share the Coaching Story to lay foundation of knowledge
I share the Adventures in Wisdom Coaching Story to lay a foundation of knowledge. Through fun, relatable stories, children see the impact of the problem that the characters face and how mindset skills are used to resolve the problem. They learn the skill right alongside the characters.
Talk about the story and how it relates to the child’s life
I use discussion questions to talk about the story with the children to help them apply the skills to their own lives.
Organize an activity to give children a hands-on experience
I plan activities and art projects to give children an opportunity to further experience the skills we work on. Practicing enables children to strengthen their learning (and neural pathways). Art projects give children a visual reminder of the learning that they can take home with them.
Review with parent and give them a WISDOM for Home Sheet
I share a take-home sheet with parents so they can continue the conversation at home. This deepens learning between sessions and engages them in supporting their child.
Yes! Confirm knowledge
I use a set of practice exercises that are great for checking retention. At the start of each new session, I practice the skill learned in the previous session.
